Prep

Your Licensed Pesticide Applicator must reach and treat areas infested by cockroaches listed in this paragraph. All kitchen cabinets must be emptied. Access to the back of the refrigerator, the stove, and possibly any dishwasher is required. Additionally, access is needed under each cabinet drawer, under the sink, and back into any food pantry. It is also important to reach the walls, base along the floors, and the sides of the cabinets. Without access, the applicator cannot adequately treat the infestation, and there is no assurance that the treatment will be effective; thus, no warranty.

Treat

To assess the infestation, roaches and droppings are identified and counted. An insecticidal dust can be applied as possible to cracks, gaps, and hidden spaces around cabinets, appliances, windows, and other areas where roach activity is found. The dust helps flush roaches from their hiding places and has low toxicity to people and pets when used as directed.

A non-repellent treatment is then applied to areas where cockroaches live and travel, including cabinets, appliance gaps, baseboards, and bathrooms. This treatment kills active adult roaches and helps prevent young roaches from developing and reproducing. Because roaches cannot detect the treatment, they continue moving through treated areas, increasing its effectiveness.

In summary, this treatment targets both existing cockroaches and future generations to reduce the infestation and help prevent it from returning.

Limitations

Occasionally we find repellent insecticides or home remedies have been employed as attempts to eliminate roaches. This approach can inadvertently leave hidden eggs in place or disperse roaches throughout the house. This is particularly evident when we discover used products and observe roaches spread throughout the entire house rather than being confined to the kitchen.

It is imperative to thoroughly clean all areas where food particles accumulate, as these serve as a food source for roaches. Common sources of food particles include carpets, floor registers, cabinets, ovens, and refrigerators. By eliminating these potential food sources, we can prevent the continued presence of roaches and ensure the effectiveness of treatment.

Prevention

Maintaining kitchen hygiene is paramount. Store all food sources, including snacks and pet food, within containers. Ensure that loose food particles and drink spills are promptly cleaned up. Keep water sources dry in areas surrounding sinks, drains, and condensation points. Sealing gaps and crevices at cabinets and trim with caulk will help to prevent reinfestation within voids behind them.

Expect

Be prepared to find dead roaches scattered throughout the area. Roaches track through the insecticide in search of food and water sources. You may also encounter a few live hatchlings. This process will repeat for several weeks. The roach population should not mature and reproduce. Any new roaches introduced to the house during the insecticide’s life cycle should undergo the same process.

Complete

Treatment is deemed complete when a month or more has passed without the discovery of live roaches. Additionally, no new roaches have been introduced, and good food hygiene practices are consistently observed.
